- Time spent on routine tasks is reduced, which helps to ensure resources are used effectively.
- Tasks become consistent, which promotes uniformity and helps to ensure standards are maintained.
- Procedures become clearer, which makes it easier for everyone involved.
- A well-organized administrative foundation makes it easier to scale operations and facilitate the smooth flow of information within the company
- New Paragraph below bullet points. We can assist, possibly simplify and improve administration procedures for your business, this could help reduce time in the office, whilst increasing accuracy and providing accessible information at your finger tips. Choose from apps, integrations, paperless or streamlined record keeping to keep your company working efficiently.

Why keep accounts?
Accounting is essential to the recording and presentation of financial records and financial statements. It is important for:
- Internal control, to ensure that all financial transactions are correctly recorded so as to show the true financial position of the business, and to help prevent fraud.
- Measuring performance, by means of financial reports and the year-end financial statements.
- Obtaining credit, by providing lenders with the correct financial position of the business.
- Statutory requirements, VAT and income tax returns to HM Revenue & Customs.
Benefits of Online Software
TeesBooks is in partnership with Xero, cloud accounting software.
Invoicing:
Accounting software makes it quick and easy to issue invoices. They are easily accessed so that you can see when they were generated, paid or even overdue. Giving you complete control.
Banking:
By connecting payments and receipts to the invoices and bills they correspond to, bank feeds can facilitate bank account reconciliation.
Reports:
Xero reports give you access to your company’s balance sheet and profit and loss statement, which are critical for determining profitability and financial health. You may run these reports, together with the aged debtors and creditors, at any time, allowing you to assess your business whenever you wish.
Hubdoc:
Simply scan or photograph your invoices and receipts into Hubdoc, and the software will import them into Xero, allowing all your records to flow seamlessly to us for processing. Don’t own a scanner or smartphone. Just send us the hard copies and we will do it for you.

Self Assessment
You’ll need to complete a self-assessment tax return if you:
- Are self-employed or a sole trader earning over £1,000 annually
- Are a partner in a business partnership
- Have a total taxable income of more than £150,000
- You had to pay Capital Gains Tax when you sold or ‘disposed’ of something that increased in value
From April 2026 the only way to submit your self-assessment tax return to HMRC will be using one of their approved software packages. We are able to help you with this as all the software we use is compliant.
Sole Trader
As the sole trader is responsible for all aspects of the business, including finances, we are able to help and expand the capabilities of the hard-working sole trader by looking after the paperwork they don’t have time to.
The Cash Book option may suit the sole trader best, especially if QuickFile is included, as it’s free to small businesses.

Cash Book
Your documents will be diligently entered into the bookkeeping software of your choice, which you will have access to so that you can keep an eye on your business’ performance.
- End of year self-assessment filing included
- We will conduct an annual tax efficiency review, ensuring you’re claiming everything you could be and operating in the most efficient way possible.
- Monthly fee from £25 – £55 depending on the number of transactions and how many reports may be required. Remote option available.
- Ideal for non-VAT registered businesses utilising QuickFile
Working at yours
Time can be spent in your office working alongside you if this is how you want things to be done. How often is flexible and dependent on what is required. If transactions are being processed weekly, a fortnightly or monthly work-in-the-office arrangement fits in well, whilst receipts and other paperwork can be sent remotely.
Ideal for small businesses with a turnover between £50k – £550k

CIS
Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) applies to contractors and subcontractors in the UK construction industry. It requires contractors to make deductions on behalf of their subcontractors.
These deductions count towards the subcontractors’ tax and National Insurance, spreading the payments out over time instead of a lump sum at the end of the tax year.
Subcontractors aren’t required to register for CIS, but it can be beneficial. If you register for CIS as a subcontractor, HMRC calculates deductions at 20% instead of 30%, so you’ll pay a lower amount to HMRC every month.
Xero
Record keeping is a legal requirement for all businesses, but sometimes it can prove challenging to keep all your paperwork organised. TeesBooks can help remove the hassle of manual bookkeeping and invoicing by going digital with online accounting software. Xero offers various ways to automate and streamline your record keeping, allowing you more time to focus on making your business successful.
A powerful online accounting software with features and tools to help small businesses manage their business more easily. Keeping everything online and accessible.
Choose from apps, integrations, paperless or streamlined records to keep all your finances current, visible in one centralised and secure location. You could even go paperless if you want to. Documents are automatically backed up to cloud storage.
Hubdoc is used to get your bills and receipts swiftly to us via email, scanning or your phone. Once received we extract the information from your suppliers’ documents to create your accounts.
